Just days after opening, the new team leading the National are getting five star reviews as locals in Dingwall welcome the return of a beloved facility.

The four new proprietors – Dougal Cameron, Raffael Santos and husband and wife Patricia and Diogo Montiero – are delighted with the response.

They say it is key to learn what their clientele want and after the cafe-bar, now named The Stag, opened along with the restaurant they are getting a better idea.

They were touched by the warmth of welcome from locals with some even bringing in cards and balloons to wish them well.

Their food offering has gone down well too with Louise Maccallum posting: “Staff are lovely and the food was amazing – will definitely be back.”

Ashleigh Campbell agreed stating: “Great to see The National Hotel back open. The new owners are great! Great service and food! Will definitely be back.”

Mr Santos said: "The guests were happy with our meals and we will start doing lunches as well so we are getting busier all the time. We are expecting a busier weekend.

“We are satisfied with a good strong opening with about 80 to 100 people on the opening day. One gentleman said it was the best coffee he had ever had.And now we are looking forward to our first Roast Sunday.”

Mrs Monteiro said: “The feedback has been amazing. The people are so happy, I never saw so many people leave this type of comments and it made us feel so welcome.”

A Ross County home tie coupled with the arrival of The Snowman Rally over the weekend ensured a heavy footfall for many local businesses.
