POTENTIAL students sounding out a possible place with the Easter Ross campus of the University of the Highlands and Islands were treated to live entertainment ranging from traditional Scottish music to heavy metal during an open day in Alness.

The free annual Tea in the Tern showcase and open day at the town's North Highland College UHI campus was well attended with visiting revellers enjoying live music produced by students.

There was plenty to do between sets with face painting, a magician, bouncy castle, raffles and baking– plus a visit from mascot, Hamish the Horse.

A spokeswoman for the college said: "We were delighted to chat to potential future students who had come along to visit the campus as well as enjoy the entertainment on hand. Thanks to all the students, staff, volunteers and local companies for supporting this year’s Tea in the Tern."

The family friendly entertainment also included arts and crafts with refreshments on hand courtesy of the child, health, education and social care students.

The day aimed to showcase some of the courses offered at the site to prospective future students.
