A SHERIFF has imposed a community payback order on an Alness man who threatened his wife.

Simon Hart, of Westford, will be supervised for two years as part of the order and will also have to attend the Caledonian Men’s Programme which aims to address behaviours that lead to domestic abuse.

Hart (36) appeared at Tain Sheriff Court on Monday having previously admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner between February 4 and 5 at an address at Firhill, Alness.

The court was told that he went to the house uninvited, refused to leave, shouted, swore and threatened to kill his wife.

Defence agent Neil Wilson said the couple’s relationship was over and Hart was “going through proper channels to address underlying difficulties”.

Sheriff Gary Aitken agreed to a non-harassment order, banning Hart from approaching his wife.
