AN Easter Ross gymnastics club fighting for its future has been celebrating the success of its young stars while lining up a slew of fundraising ideas.

A quiz night at the Conon Hotel tonight (Wednesday) is the latest event set to provide a lift to Fyrish Gymnastics Club.

The club has a secure lease at its Alness base up until the beginning of 2028, but the building - which houses a purpose-built sprung floor and extensive equipment the envy of the Highlands and islands gymnastics’ community - is now on the open market.

The club was initially chasing a £150,000 target for the eventual purchase of the building which is no longer required as a call contact centre by BT.

However it was shocked to learn the building was put on the market for £400,000.

The club was back in action at the weekend and later posted: “This weekend some of our squad girls travelled down to Cumbernauld where they took part in the Celebration of Life competition. We had a lovely weekend and got some great results!”

The club has also lined up a Fyrish sponsored walk for Sunday, September 22 at noon. It says all are welcome back to the gym afterwards for refreshments, music and bouncy castle fun.

A Tesco Inshes bag pack on Sunday, September 29 is also lined up to boost the club’s coffers further. It has appealed to gymnasts to help with that.

It has set up a fundraising page which can be found here.
