COMMUNITY spirit shone as bright as the sun on Alness Gala Day 2025.

The gala returned with colour, music, and community pride as hundreds gathered to celebrate one of the town’s most cherished events.

This year’s Gala was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Pat Munro, Highland Broadband, and Murphy Construction, with additional support from the Alness Community Council and the Highland Council through grant funding.

Their backing helped bring together a fantastic day of festivities for all ages.

The day began with the much-anticipated community parade, proudly led by the Ardross Pipe Band, whose stirring music set the tone for a day of celebration. They were followed by a colourful and creative array of local community groups, showcasing the vibrant heart of Alness.

One of the highlights of the day was the Civic Awards, presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Joanie Whiteford, recognising outstanding individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the local community.

The Gala field was a hive of activity with an impressive range of local vendors and stalls, offering everything from crafts to delicious food. A clear favourite with attendees was the Rodeo Bull Challenge, which proved to be a great hit with both participants and spectators.

The celebrations continued into the evening with the Gala Dance – Fling in the Field, where over 300 people gathered to enjoy live music, dancing, and a brilliant atmosphere. The ever-popular Rhythmnreel Band returned for their second year, delighting the crowd with their energetic and foot-tapping performance.

Speaking on behalf of the Alness Gala Events Committee, chairman Robert Adair expressed heartfelt thanks: “We are incredibly grateful to the amazing community of Alness for their support. From our sponsors and stallholders to every person who came out on the day — thank you. In spite of the strong winds, the spirit of Alness shone through.
