Serious accident at Munlochy junction on Black Isle forces closure of the A9

EMERGENCY services are still at the scene of an A9 crash on the Black Isle.

The two-vehicle accident happened at around 4.25pm today close to the Munlochy junction.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance following a serious road traffic crash involving two vehicles on the A9 near the Munlochy junction which police were called to at around 4.25pm on Friday, 19 November, 2021.

“The A9 between Tore roundabout and Longman roundabout is currently closed and diversions are in place. Motorists are asked to avoid the area where possible.

“Emergency services remain at the scene.”

Drivers were told to expect delays on the main route through the Highlands after the incident.

Traffic Scotland reported: "The A9 between Tore roundabout and Longman roundabout is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic incident. Road users are advised to use an alternative route at this time and allow extra time for their journey."

Police did not have further details about any casualties or the vehicles involved.

A number of motorists have been reporting delays.
