The upper floors of a former Post Office and newsagents in Alness could be turned into short-term bedroom lets under plans submitted to Highland Council.

MacIntosh Properties Ltd is hoping to convert the first and second floors of 37 High Street into eight short-term letted en-suite bedrooms with shared communal lounge/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room.

The lets would be located above the vacant Your Tefamm shop and the town's old Post Office, which sits between Ladbrokes and the J&M Patterson DIY store and ironmongery. The Post Office has since moved to 56 High Street.

Six of the letted bedrooms - each of which would have their own shower room/toilet - would be located on the first floor.

A further two bedroom lets with showers/toilets would be located on the second floor.

The entire complex would be accessed via a stairway entrance on the High Street and a rear door which opens onto yard/parking off Averon Road.

The application will be decided by Highland Council at a future date.
