70th wedding anniversary Ross-shire couple are ‘a real inspiration’

A ROSS-SHIRE couple who have celebrated 70 years of marriage have been hailed “a real inspiration”.

Wally and Sylvia Miller met when Wally, born and brought up in London, was posted to Dingwall.

He had followed in his father’s footsteps and signed up for the Seaforth Highlanders.

He was soon posted to Dingwall where he met local girl Sylvia. They were married six months later in 1955.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Joanie Whiteford was delighted to join with Wally and Sylvia Miller and their family to deliver a card from His Majesty The King on the occasion of their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

Mrs Whiteford said: “70 years later their love story continues. They are a real inspiration.”
