Sutherland fire in Rogart area sparks emergency response six fire engines from Lairg, Dornoch, Invergordon, Dingwall and Inverness are battling the blaze at a local building, and the A839 is closed to traffic, Police Scotland officers have warned Highland residents

Six fire engine crews were battling a blaze in Rogart this afternoon after a fire in a local building close to the A839.

That A-road was closed to traffic at the time of writing, and residents were being urged to avoid the area by police.

Emergency services were also advising people to keep their windows and doors closed.

Confirming the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance following a fire at a premises just off the A839 in Rogart.”

They continued: “The A839 road is closed at Rogart and the public is asked to avoid the area.

“Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed at this time.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, meanwhile, said it got the call at 11.28am to reports of a building fire in Rogart.

Six fire engines were on the scene, with crews from Laird, Dornoch, Invergordon, Dingwall and Inverness (two) all involved.

Crews were using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and two ground monitors to fight the blaze.
