Inverness’s Simpsons garden centre celebrates 25th anniversary with £25,000 giveaway for Highland school, community and charity garden projects
Green-fingered school, community and charity projects in the Highlands are set for a £25,000 windfall this spring - thanks to an Inverness garden centre.
Simpsons is celebrating its 25th anniversary in April and is marking the occasion by announcing plans to donate £25,000 worth of vouchers to garden projects across Inverness, the Highlands and Aberdeenshire.
It’s hoped the £25,000 fund will help set up new projects or support gardens already being used but need an extra boost.
And many different projects are likely to benefit from Simpsons’ ‘Garden Project 25’ fund after it confirmed that the money will be split between numerous recipients.
Marketing manager, Siobhan MacBean, said: “As we celebrate our 25th birthday, it’s great to give back to the community which has supported Simpsons from the beginning. Gardening and being outdoors is so good for physical and mental health and there are so many great projects out there, getting people involved.
“Every garden project is a great learning opportunity whether it’s young people at nursery or school to the older generation who now have more time to spend in the garden or learn more about growing.
"Through our ‘Garden Project 25’ fund, we want to be able to support gardens and outdoors spaces that have multiple uses and users, so really hope as many projects as possible get involved.
“This is such an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to reading about all the different gardens and spaces on our doorstep and being able to support their gardening goals and aspirations”
As well as Highland projects, the initiative will also benefit schemes near Simpsons’ Aberdeenshire store in Mintlaw, which joined the Simpsons family in November 2000 - a few months after the Inverness site opened its doors.
To apply for the Simpsons Garden Project 25 fund, schools, charity/community groups can find out more on Simpsons’ social media platforms or visit the website at www.simpsonsgardencentre.co.uk/garden-project-25.
People can also nominate a garden project they think would be worthy of funding.
Applications close on Sunday, March 30.
