£1m A9 resurfacing near Alness on hold amidst temperature drop
A NEAR £1m resurfacing project on a stretch of the A9 near Alness has been put on hold due to the plummeting temperature.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland has been carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A9 south of Alness.
Work got underway on November 6 and was due to have been completed on next Wednesday (November 27) after a 15-night work programme.

The project has involved a full road closure each night work has been carried out with a diversion between Skiach services and Teaninich Avenue.
BEAR Scotland said today in an update that due to low temperatures, works on the 721 metre stretch have been postponed. Works will be rescheduled “when weather permits, at which point new dates will be shared”.
The £990,000 investment will see a 721m stretch of carriageway resurfaced to “ensure that the A9 continues to operate safely for years to come”.
BEAR said: “Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, X at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
