Queen of the South 4
Ross County 0
Dobbie (13, 77) Doyle (44) Maguire (65)
Ross County failed to extend their advantage at the top of the Championship after they were thrashed in Dumfries.
Two goals either side of half time gave an impressive Queen of the South side all three points.
But the Staggies could have taken the lead in the first 60 seconds of the match when Michael Gardyne’s cross from the left wing found Ross Stewart whose back heel from six yards went inches wide of the post.
Stephen Dobbie could have given Queens the lead earlier on when he pounced on a mistake by Keith Watson but his shot forced a great save from Scott Fox.
But Dobbie was not to be denied minutes later when he connected with a cross from Nicky Low and he powered the ball into the bottom left hand corner from 12 yards to make it 1-0.
Queens continued to stamp their authority on the game and Fox was required to produce another great save when Dobbie was unchallenged to fire a Lyndon Dykes cross towards the bottom left corner but the Staggies number one produced a diving save to stop his shot.
But QOS did double their advantage on the stroke of half time when Dobbie played provider for Michael Doyle who found himself space in the box to fire past Fox to make it 2-0.
The hosts killed off the game midway through the second half when Callum Fordyce headed the ball into the box which found Barry Maguire who fired home from close range.
Minutes later the Staggies were down to 10 men when Mullin was sent off after receiving a straight red card for a lunging tackle on Maguire.
Dobbie grabbed his second of the game in the 79th minute when he beat Ross Draper to the ball and volleyed the ball past Fox to complete a miserable afternoon for the Staggies.
