Liam Fontaine signed a new one-year deal with Ross County this summer – but is already keen to extend his stay for longer.

The former Hibs and Bristol City defender is loving life with the Dingwall club despite last season’s relegation heartache.

At the Staggies’ Dutch training camp, co-managers Steven Ferguson and Stuart Kettlewell announced the big Englishman would serve as vice-captain to newly-appointed Marcus Fraser.

Fontaine described the move as a “fantastic honour” but was already thrilled to be part of County’s Championship promotion drive.
