A TAIN team that's on the up and up hopes to strike a chord with supporters with its latest quirky fundraising venture. Tain Thistle FC, newly promoted to the MSIS North Caledonian League, is fine-tuning its preparations by raffling an accordion for club funds. The 48-bass Stephanelli accordion was donated by Steve Clinkscale Music of Kelso who supplies club chairman Niall Harkiss. Appropriately Niall is also the owner of the Home and Music Emporium in Tain. He explained, "During our summer fundraising efforts we sent out numerous letters appealing for donations and we were delighted to hear from Steve, who is one of my suppliers. Steve said he was willing to let us have the accordion as a donation and we will be raffling it over the next month." Tickets are on sale from today (Friday) at Home and Music Emporium and The Tower Bookshop in Tain priced £1.50 each. Tickets can be bought online via Paypal by visiting tainthistle.co.uk/raffle.html

Niall added, "We have been delighted with the support we have received from local businesses since news broke we had been accepted into the North Caley League. But we would still like people to make a direct approach regarding match sponsorship or advertising in our match programme. Anyone interested should visit our website."
