TWO Easter Ross businesses are up for accolades at an independent retail awards ceremony next week after being shortlisted by judges.
Finalists for the seventh annual Scottish Independent Retail Awards were revealed after nominations came pouring in from all corners of the country.
The scheme aims to highlight the contribution and value of independents to the communities they operate within as well as the overall economy.
Up for a gong in the Soft Furnishing Supplier of the Year category is Fearn-based Anta Scotland.
The firm, created by husband and wife designer team Lachlan and Annie Stewart, has been a local success story with a number of expansions and an investment of £117,000 back in 2016 from Highlands and Islands Enterprise towards the cost of a £645,000 upgrade.
Their shop in Fearn attracts around 10,000 visitors a year and they also have stores in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, as well as a growing e-commerce site.
Also in the spotlight with a Florist of the Year (North) nomination is Tain-based The Flower Shop London House, a family run florist and gift shop in the heart of the royal burgh.
Irfan Younis, CEO of Creative Oceanic said: "Now in its seventh year, The Scottish Independent Retail Awards have always been testament to the fact that independent businesses are the very backbone of the country’s economy. We also think that far too often, the hard work of retail owners and workers is disregarded and we hope that the awards ceremony is a platform to show their achievements."
Winners will be revealed on Tuesday.
