A north road is currently closed, with conflicting accounts of whether or not it has been hit by a truck.
Police have closed the A862 near Dingwall as a spokesman said the Mineral Bridge had been hit by a lorry.
However Network Rail said they did not believe the bridge had been struck but they were sending a bridge examiner out to inspect it just in case, after a member of the public phoned in reporting debris like a rock or stone lying on the carriageway.
They had, however received reports of two bridge strikes further north today – between Helmsdale and Brora and near Golspie. The bridges were not damaged in either case, a spokesman said, and trains are running normally.
