POLICE in Easter Ross have issued a warning about the “extreme” dangers of fire after a shed in the Westford area of Alness was set alight earlier this week.

The incident, centring on a shed in the garden of a house, happened around 8.45pm on Tuesday.

Police are keen to speak to two boys seen in the area before the fire carrying a pot of paint.

Constable Claire Maclean said: “Fortunately this fire did not result in anyone being injured but it should go without saying that deliberately setting fires is extremely dangerous and can have serious, unintended consequences.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident and would encourage them to contact us.”

They can be contacted on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
