AN abandoned car found near the Kessock Bridge sparked a major three-and-hour search and rescue mission.
The drama unfolded on Saturday afternoon when the volunteer crew of the RNLI Kessock were tasked to take part in a multi-agency search along with coastguard teams.
The lifeboat crew launched at 5.41pm with the Atlantic 85 Class lifeboat, Robert and Isobel Mowat, scanning an area to the west of the bridge.
The Dalcross-based HM Coastguard - Highland Rescue Helicopter 951 searched to the east of the bridge with the Inverness Coastguard conducting shore searches.
After two hours of searching and nothing found, the lifeboat crew returned to base fpr a changeover.
The search for the second crew was focused on the underside of the bridge near the shoreline between the lifeboat staton and Kilmuir.
After a further 45 minutes of searching, the missing person was found on the land and taken into police custody.
No further official information has been given about the person involved.
At around 9pm the lifeboat crew were stood down from the search and returned to the lifeboat station.
