A BODY has been found near a Wester Ross road, it has been confirmed.

The grim discovery was made on Tuesday morning on the A832 near Mungasdale and the alarm was raised with police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.05am on Tuesday, November 29, we were called to a report of a body being found just off the A832 near Mungasdale, Achnasheen.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Police have not yet confirmed any further details about the body.

The Journal understands that formal identification has not taken place.

Passers-by reported a police presence in the area much of the day on Tuesday and earlier today.

The A832 is one of Ross-shire's key routes running through the county from Cromarty on the east coast to Gairloch on the west.
