Sir — What a totally misleading editorial in last week's edition of the Ross-shire journal on the proposed waste to energy plant in Invergordon.

Approximately 2,000 people, allegedly from Invergordon, Alness and Tain signed a petition against the waste plant proposal.

In my calculations, that would say 10,000 people in the locality did not sign. Presumably they are indeed not against the development? Congratulations to Glen Jones's written response to the varied criticisms levelled at him and Highland Council. He and others are listening to the majority and that is democracy as we know it!

Invergordon and indeed the Highlands is crying out for jobs and decent infrastructure, apart from the fact we have to deal with our own refuse, not dump it in somebody else's back yard.

The plant has a proven track record throughout Europe and the Scandinavian countries.

Alda Macleod, 5 Murray Road, Invergordon.
