A NUMBER of Highland Council staff from Ross and Cromarty were winners at the council’s annual Quality Awards held at the North Highland College, Thurso, on Monday night.

Janette Douglas, a youth development officer who is based at the Community Wing at Alness Academy and Steven Urquhart, street cleaner in Tain, were two of the three winners of a Community Council Commendation.

Duncan Winston, a third year joinery apprentice from Tain, who works for Housing and Property in Sutherland, was chosen Trainee of the Year.

Alness Academy’s 1st Year Transition Trip to the Badaguish Outdoor Centre, near Aviemore, won the team category, entitled Service Improvement to meet Customer Needs.

And Ross and Cromarty Blue Light Partnership won the Citizen, Health, Safety and Wellbeing Category.
