Kinlochshiel get revenge for Balliemore defeat

AT CASTLE LEOD on Saturday, Kinlochshiel gained revenge over Caberfeidh for their recent exit from the Balliemore Cup competition, and enhanced their league championship prospects and promotion to the Premier Division.

In defeating Caberfeidh by five goals to one in the Marine Harvest North Division One League they recorded their sixth straight win and impressed all and sundry with as excellent a display of shinty as one could wish.

Throughout, they kept their shape as a team, taking every incident in their stride, players backing up each other and negating the most promising moves of their opponents. As the game progressed they were sharper on the ball, more accurate with their clearances, and quicker in taking up a position to counter a move.

Caberfeidh had been knocked back when Shiel, opened the scoring almost from the throw-up with a counter from Neil Fraser.

However, before the interval Kirk Taylor had equalised, but it was obvious that the visitors had quite a lot to offer in the elements of the game, particularly fitness-wise and they used the width of the park to their advantage.

In the second period Cabers endeavoured to overcome a team with championship prospects, and were second-best in battles for the ball. As a consequence they lost four goals, two of which were a scramble on the goal-line, possibly own-goals!

Anyway, scoring credit was given to Neil Fraser, Finlay Macrae (2), Fraser MacVicar ?and Lee Nicol (own goal).

At Portree, also in the North Division One, Skye defeated Strathglass 3-1.
