A FORMER Scotland under-21 cap from Ross-shire is leading a rugby revolution in the Far East.

Dave Whiteford (25), originally from Castlecraig, Nigg, has just been appointed Hong Kong Scottish Rugby Football Club (RFC) general manager. The former Ross Sutherland and Highland player went on to play for Melrose and Scotland under-21s.

He was recently involved in the HK club's first outing in Hong Kong to celebrate Hong Kong Scottish Nomads Day.

Dave, who was educated at Fearn Primary School and Tain Royal Academy, where he was head boy, graduated with a marketing degree at Napier University in Edinburgh. He went to work for Laxton, a sports marketing company in Hong Kong last year.

He said, "It has been a long process as we try to put together a group of players that will compete against the top teams in Hong Kong."

Dave's mother and father, Alan and Liz still farm at Nigg.
