Cromarty Arms win shield

CROMARTY Arms won their first trophy of the season in the Dingwall and District Pool League when they defeated hosts Oscars Bar A 5-4 in a thrilling Oscars Bar Shield final on Sunday.

Kenny MacFarlane, partnered by Robert Cooper, secured the silverware in style with an eight-ball clearance in the final doubles frame.

Arms beat neighbours Royal Hotel, Cromarty 5-3 in the semifinals.

The National Hotel were the other losing semifinalists.

There is no change at the top of the table as the league programme reached the halfway stage on Monday night.

Joint-leaders Oscars Bar A and Cromarty Arms Hotel both won their respective matches with something to spare.

Gary Wright potted the winner in the final singles frame as Oscars Bar A defeated Dingwall 147 A 6-3.

Cromarty Arms kept pace with a 7-2 victory over Dingwall 147 B. Shaun Hepburn clinched the points when he produced a superb eight-ball clearance in the singles.

Not content with this feat, Shaun followed up with another eight-ball clearance in the doubles.

National Hotel kept in touch with a 6-3 win over Lovat Arms Hotel. Michael MacNab, partnered by Liam Kennedy, sank the winner in the opening doubles.

Royal Hotel, Cromarty got back to winning ways with a 7-2 victory over Station Hotel, Avoch. Ian Taylor, partnered by Stuart Hill, slotted in the decisive black in the first doubles frame.
