THE North Golf Alliance members failed to make a start to their new season at Thurso last Sunday due to a waterlogged course. No new date has been set but hopefully they will have more luck at the second fixture at Durness Golf Club on Sunday.
Off to a flying start to her third year at the Gardner-Webb University, North Carolina is Tain star student, Sammy Vass, right, who has had her highest finish ever on the United States women's college golf circuit.
In a field of 45 last weekend she finished in a joint second place playing at the Winthrop University Intercollegiate women's event played over the Rock Hill Country Club, South Carolina. Vass had cards of 78 and 72 to match that of team mate Meghan Allum and finish one shot behind the winner. Sammy and Meghan's performance helped their college win the team event.
