Full respect for Rovers as County aim for cup run

DEREK Adams insists there is no temptation to tinker with his team as the First Division leaders turn their energies to the Scottish Cup.

The Ross County manager will treat an on-form Albion Rovers with the utmost respect with the Second Division visitors currently enjoying a fine run of victories.

With a squad of 20 at Victoria Park, a group of six or seven players have found first team opportunities limited of late as County rack up an 11-game league unbeaten run.

Adams, though, is intent on treating Rovers in the same manner he treated First Division rivals Falkirk.

The County boss said, "The team will be along the same lines as the team that played last week.

"There's no added temptation there to make changes - none. It's another big game we want to win."

Only Sam Morrow, with his Achilles problem, definitely misses out while striker Steven Craig returns from his eight-game suspension.

The hefty punishment was meted out for confronting referee Matt Northcroft during the Livingston clash on September 17 and alleged foul and abusive language.

Craig, still County's top scorer on four goals, struck a hat-trick in a 4-2 bounce match victory over Highland League leaders Forres Mechanics during the week.

But it may be that the best the striker can hope for tomorrow is a place on the bench.

Adams underlined the importance of treating Rovers respectfully and progressing in the cup.

He said, "This weekend is a good break from the league and it's competition in which we've done well in the past.

"We want to try and progress to the next round but Albion Rovers are a team who are on a good run of form themselves, having won the last four games.

"They also won very convincingly, with four and seven goals, in the last two matches against good opposition.

"So it is going to be a difficult tie, although it's at home which can only benefit us.

"Over the past two years, the Scottish Cup is a competition we have enjoyed playing in.

"It can be financially-rewarding for the football club.

"That kind of finance is a big help in running the football club on a yearly basis, along with the help we get from the board and chairman.

"Anything that can be brought in to help the club is very welcome."
