Dingwall lads sweep the boards

A ROSS-SHIRE youth team swept the boards this year, with an almost unblemished record.

Dingwall Boys Club's under-17s team won the SWL League trophy, the John MacLean Cup and the Jewson Cup to make it a clean-sweep of trophies.

Ross Chalmers, one of eight coaches at the club, told, the Ross-shire Journal, "The team did very well during the summer. They won all their games expect a league match against Muir of Ord, which they drew 1-1."

He added, "We have since entered the team in the Winter Development league against the likes of, Brora Rangers, Clach and Inverness City. But despite this being our first season in the league the boys are not being outclassed - they are more than holding their own."

Ross also revealed the club runs a highly successful under-15s team, and hopes to enter an under-13 team in the summer league, which runs from March to August.

The club also run regular coaching sessions every Sunday, between 9.30am and 11.30am, at the Highland Football Academy. Youngsters from nursery school to secondary school are welcome to come along.

The annual subscription is £35.
