Police warning over bogus charity collectors in Invergordon area

Police say a genuine collector will have valid identification.A WARNING has been issued to residents about bogus charity collectors operating in Ross-shire.

It follows a report to the police from a charity about people claiming to be working for it in the Invergordon area.

People working for registered charities will carry ID badges verifying who they are.

Constable Holly Mackenzie said: “We would advise that if you have concerns about a person, contact the charity on a number you have sourced yourself, or call 101 to speak to police.

“I would stress that at this stage there is nothing to suggest that anyone has been a victim of fraud, but we want the public to be aware and to take precautions if they have concerns.”

Police did not disclose which charity was affected.
