A WESTER Ross visitor attraction is celebrating another award – for the fifth consecutive year running.

National Trust for Scotland’s Inverewe Gardens has picked up Award of Excellence from CIE Tours International hot on the heels of being voted the Best Garden in the UK.

Delighted visitor services manager Doug Allan said: "This shows that our dedicated team here are consistently striving to ensure a good quality of visitor experience."

CIE Tours grant the awards to property’s which consistently exceed their clients’ expectations.

Doug explained: "The winners are chosen from an independent evaluation of questionnaires completed through 2016 by CIE Tours International coach tour clients. So we are particularly proud of the award as it has been voted for by the visitors themselves."

Inverewe claims to be becoming a "must visit" destination, with visitor numbers doubling in the first part of the season. The newly-refurbished Inverewe House and Sawyer Art Gallery, which opened to the public this Easter, is receiving positive comments.

Some recent quotes direct from the Inverewe House visitors book are even saying that Inverewe is "the Best National Trust for Scotland building ever visited", with other descriptions such as "really adds a lot to the garden visit" and "delightful surprise".

A bonus for visitors is the on-site Osgood’s Café and Bothy Café which have received the Taste Our Best award from Visit Scotland, for use of local and Scottish products.

Adds Doug: "From the first contact the visitor has at the visitor centre, through the garden, the house and art gallery and to the cafes, we strive to keep the visitor experience to a very high standard."
