Police officers will visit Dingwall Mart this weekend to promote their Farm Watch scheme

POLICE officers will be heading to market this weekend to recruit more members of the rural community to their successful Farm Watch scheme.

Northern Constabulary community safety officers will attend a machinery sale at Dingwall Auction Mart on Saturday to spread the word about the project which allows a flow of information between the force and the farming community.

This helps farmers find out about incidents in the rural area and encourages them to remain vigilant and report suspicious behaviour.

Community Safety Officer, Constable Angie Grant-Omotosho, said: "Farm Watch gives us a way of uniting with hundreds of farmers to ensure that our rural communities are not a soft target for criminals. At Dingwall, as well as telling farmers about the scheme, we’ll also have information about property marking and be giving people the opportunity to experience our seatbelt convincer".

Anyone wishing further information on Farm Watch should contact the local Community Safety Officer on 0845 600 5703.
