BLYTHSWOOD Care is appealing for local volunteers to get in touch now to assist with food bank collections in Dingwall’s Tesco store on Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30.

Blythswood has run Highland Foodbank in Inverness since 2005 and is opening food banks in Aviemore, Thurso and Kyle of Lochalsh.

Blythswood’s foodbank development officer, Laura Ferguson, said: "As they enter the store, customers will be given a list of needed items such as longlife milk, cereal, tinned foods and tea and coffee with the suggestion that they might donate an item on their way out.

"Winter is the hardest time of year for people living in poverty and this Christmas is looking especially tough as heating costs continue to rise. We’re delighted that Tesco are working with us to help prevent local people in crisis from going hungry."

Tesco has undertaken to top up total donations by a further 30 per cent.

If you are able to help, contact Laura on 01349 830777 or email laura.ferguson@blythswood.org
