Billy enjoys birthday in the clouds

TAIN man Billy Grant was floating on air quite literally as he celebrated his birthday at the weekend.

He was amongst those taking part in the annual fly-in organised by the Highland branch of the Light Aircraft Association. The weekend event at Dornoch airstrip attracted over fifty light aircraft from all parts of Scotland in stunning conditions.

As well as running his bakery business, Billy spent all his spare time for ten years rebuilding his immaculate Condor aircraft. He was handed an accolade for his efforts by Alan Reedie, of Home Vision Services.

Many local people also came to enjoy the occasion.

And as it was Billy's birthday, he fulfilled a long held dream, by getting a flight in a Tiger Moth vintage bi-plane, piloted by John Farquhar from Shempston airstrip, near Lossiemouth.

World champion haggis makers, Cockburn's of Dingwall generously provided the prizes.
