Return to Muppet Studio

IN 2012 The Muppets are back on the big screen in a brand new movie featuring all of our favourite Muppets characters including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozie, Gonzo and many many more.

The film revisits the Muppets who have all gone into different careers after Muppets Studio was disbanded, Miss Piggy is the plus sized editor of US Vogue, Gonzo runs a plumbing empires and Fozzie is in a tribute band in Reno with many of the other Muppets scattered around the world. When Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fans uncovers a plan to destroy the old Muppet theatre, he contacts Kermit and together they round up the Muppets to help raise the $10million needed to save the Muppet Theatre.

The Muppet Movie opened in cinemas in the US on Thanksgiving to an excellent reception receiving an average of 97% positive reviews from critics. Muppets fans in the UK and Europe are waiting for The Muppets to arrive in cinemas in February 2012 and excitement is building with Miss Piggy, Fozzie and Animal appearing on the XFactor results show on 27th November.

The Muppets were first brought to life in 1954 by Jim Henson but it wasn't until the 1976 that The Muppets became stars in the UK in "The Muppet Show". A British television show that took The Muppets from children's entertainment into main stream television, The Muppet Show catapulted Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Rizzo, Bunsen, Becker, Statler and Waldorf and many more Muppets into the spotlight.

The Muppet Show star Kermit the Frog as the stage manager at The Muppet Theatre who desperately tries to keep the stars of the "show" under control, with the star of the "show" being Miss Piggy. A hilariously slapstick television show, each episode of The Muppets show featured a human guest star who joined the madness, with no guest star ever appearing twice. Memorable guest stars include Elton John, Roger Moore and Liam Neeson.

The Muppet Show ran for 120 episodes within five series and generated a many spin offs including 9 feature films and 15 television specials, with The Muppets also presenting at the Academy Awards and Emmy Awards as well as have cameo roles in movies such as An America Werewolf in London and Rocky III. Kermit the Frog has also be interviewed on US television shows including The Daily Show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as well as having appearances in West Wing and The Cosby Show.

More recently, The Muppets have become an internet sensation with parody music videos such as The Muppet Bohemian Rhapsody earning over 24million video views on YouTube. The Muppets also parodies recent movie trailers such as The Fuzzy Pack (Hangover 2) and Being Green (Green Lantern).

In 2004, The Walt Disney Company bought The Muppets (but not Sesame Street or Fraggle Rock) and "The Muppets" 2012 movie is the first Muppets feature length movie produced under Disney management.

The Muppets is released in UK cinemas on 10th February 2012.
